Bruce Sussman says weather's in his genes because he comes from a long line of meteorologists.
People often call and e-mail him about that. "Are you related to the Brian Sussman who did weather in San Francisco?" and "Are you related to the Brad Sussman who did weather in Cleveland?" The answer to both questions is yes. They're his cousins.
Bruce has been forecasting the weather in the Northwest for 15 years, the last 10 years right here in Oregon. His proudest honors include back-to-back Emmy Awards (2005 & 2006) for "Best Weather Anchor" in the Northwest.
He's incredibly excited to be the Chief Meteorologist at KOIN Local 6 because he loves talking about weather and science topics in plain English -- especially because so many people here in the Northwest are also interested in those things. Speaking of that, he really appreciates those who e-mail him weather ideas, questions and pictures that he can share on TV.
He goes rafting and hiking when the weather's nice and he loves to run. He even finished the Portland Marathon a few years back. Although honestly, the marathon almost finished him instead!
These days he spends his time running after his son who's a toddler and always on the move. And he and his wife are expecting a second boy this summer.
