While many reporters hopscotch the country trying to get to Portland, KOIN Sports Reporter/Anchor Dan Christopherson considers himself lucky he's never had to stray too far from the city he calls home.

Dan grew up in the Portland area and fondly remembers the greatest sports achievement in the city's history:  The day the Portland Trail Blazers won their first -- and only -- NBA Championship on June 5, 1977.

"I was 12 years old, living in southeast Portland at the time," Dan recalls.  "I remember walking outside on that sunny Sunday afternoon, beaming with pride and thinking, 'My city is No. 1.'  That feeling has stayed with me and I bring it to the work I do -- covering the Portland area and all the great people who make this a special place to live."

Dan is a proud member of the first graduating class of Vancouver's Mountain View High School in 1983.  He went on earn a communications degree at University of Portland, serving as the school newspaper's editor in chief his senior year.

He has spent his entire television news career in Oregon, starting at KOTI-TV in Klamath Falls, then KOBI-TV in Medford, before returning to work in Portland TV news in 1993.

Dan joined KOIN News 6 in 2006.  You can find him reporting news and sports stories weeknights and anchoring sports on Fridays and Saturdays.

Dan and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Emmy and Gabe, who keep them smiling all the time and on the go, exploring all the Great Northwest has to offer.
