Dan in his own words
As a kid growing up in the Portland area, I dreamed of being a major leaguer or a Trail Blazer. When I finally accepted I'd never dunk a basketball, I pursued a pretty awesome Plan B: Covering sports in my hometown.
Being from around here, I take personal pride in sharing with our viewers the best the Portland-metro sports scene has to offer. I've reported on Blazer teams from the Clyde Drexler era to the present, and to me nothing compares to capturing a local athlete or a team at the top of its game.
When I'm not on the sports beat, I enjoy family time with my wife and two kids. We love to head to the beach or just get around town to explore everything that makes our region so unique.
I guess I never will feel what it's like to rise up like Brandon Roy and throw down a basketball. But I hope it comes across when I sit next to Jeff, Kelley and Bruce every weeknight on the KOIN Local 6 set: This job is my own version of a SLAM DUNK.
