Anchor Kelley Day is a homegrown Oregonian with 15 years of broadcast experience. For the last eight years, she's anchored evening newscasts here in Portland, her hometown.
"The best part about reporting the news in my hometown, is that I truly care about the issues, the people and the events. They affect the people I love," Kelley said.
Kelley's passion for news and for her hometown shows in every newscast she anchors. You can catch Kelley anchoring weeknights with Jeff Gianola on KOIN Local 6 at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m.
After graduating from Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego, Kelley received her journalism degree at the University of Arizona. Her first full-time reporting position was in Boise, Idaho at KIVI, where she also anchored the morning news. Then, she moved to Salt Lake City to anchor the news at KSL, before returning to Portland in 1998 for her dream job at KOIN Local 6.
Kelley loves to snow ski in the winter at Mount Bachelor and Mount Hood. She learned to ski when she was 13 years old, in the "Powderhounds" program at Timberline Lodge.
In the summer, you can find Kelley exploring the numerous hiking trails in the Columbia River Gorge and spending lots of time with her childhood friends and her parents, who still live in the area.
Kelley got married last year and is enjoying spending time with husband Jeff.
