Are You Unemployed?
Getting a job in this economy can be challenging, however there are companies hiring right now. Verizon, Pacific Crest Technology, Supreme Industries, Aflac, and US Customs all have job openings.

BPA is also searching for new employees. A power project in the Gorge will add hundreds of jobs this summer. Energy is just one industry that's adding jobs right now. Financial services like Accountants, Auditors and Financial Advisors also have a bright future.

Know a second language? Put it to good use. Corporations, consulting firms, non-profits and government agences are going global, they are looking for interpreters and translators. Crime tends to increase during a recession, that means more probation officers, court reporters and paralegals are needed.

Health Coverage Concerns?
Another concern of being unemployed is of course your health coverage. There are ways to stay covered while out of work.

One option is COBRA. You can keep your former employer's health coverage for up to 18 months. According to the stimulus package signed in February, the government will subsidixe 65% of the premium for workers laid off between September 1st of 2008 and the end of this year. Cobra coverage is approximately $400 per month for individuals and up to a $1,000 per month for a family of four.

Another option is to purchase PRIVATE HEALTH COVERAGE. The monthly premiums range from $100-$1,000 depending on your medical history. Plans are written based on age, weight, and smoking history. If you have a pre-existing condition your premiums could increase or you could be denied coverage. Koin Local 6 suggests shopping around and finding the best deal for you and your family.
