The football team won big time - a 49-6 win over visiting Roosevelt - but the Lincoln High cheerleaders sat in the stands.
The decision was in protest of their coaches being overruled on their decision to remove a cheerleader for alleged code of conduct violations.
The principal who made the final call tells KOIN Local 6 an investigation showed there wasn’t just cause to kick the cheerleader off the team.
The coaches have resigned over the matter and in a prepared statement note: "As young women our athletes look up to, we cannot show them through our actions that being bullied into a decision you know is wrong is the acceptable thing to do."
Principal Peyton Chandler responded: "I don’t take this lightly, this is the first time we can remember a student has been kicked off a team at Lincoln."
