Remember, when you’re washing your car, you’re not just washing your car. Find out about a free and easy
way to make your community car wash "fish-friendly."

Fish-Friendly Tips for Home
• Use a spray nozzle.
• Use biodegradable soap. (phosphate and ammonia free)
• Dump buckets onto grass.
• Wash your car over the lawn.

Or…
• Take your car to a commercial car wash.

Did you know?
• Water from your fundraising car wash drains directly to our creeks without treatment!
• Soap, oils, grease, and toxics in the washwater harm local streams and native fish.
• You can help protect Gresham’s streams and aquatic life by hosting a fishfriendly car wash.

Three ways to make sure your car wash is fish-friendly:

1) Use the Community Car Wash Kit (FREE) from the City of Gresham.

2) Wash cars over a grassy area.

3) Use a Commercial Car Wash facility (this water is treated).

Always Remember:
• Use Biodegradable soap (phosphate and ammonia free)
• It is a violation of city code to discharge anything but clean water into the publicly owned system.
• Always dump buckets onto a grassy area
