Thursday starts kind of slow for inland areas, with rain developing gradually, and then heavy rain at times Thursday evening. Gusty winds develop in the I-5 corridor, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.

The coast sees a windy morning followed by peak wind gusts hitting after lunch and lasting into early evening. By Friday, some of the waves could approach 16 feet! Great storm watching, for sure, and the chance of minor coastal flooding at high tide times.

Cascades: all rain on Thursday and windy. Then cold air takes an 8,000 foot snow level and drops it to 4,000 feet on Friday (about mountain pass level) and 3,000 feet on Saturday – snowing below the passes. Ski resorts should see 2-3 feet of snow by Saturday night – that’s awesome!

The Thursday details now:

Coast: Rain, increasing. High wind watch all day Thursday with steady south winds 30-40mph and gusts to 60mph. Highs: 56-59.

I-5 Corridor/Willamette Valley: Rain developing and increasing. Breezy afternoon and evening with south gusts to about 30mph. Highs: 58-62.

Gorge: Rain developing, west. Otherwise, pretty quiet.  Highs: 55-58.

Cascades: Rain developing, pass gusts to 40mph, 55mph gusts at ski resorts. Snow level 8,000 feet and dropping. Highs: 42-52.

Central/Eastern Oregon: Increasing clouds, gusty south – southwest winds developing. Gusts to about 35mph many areas. A chance of showers late. Much cooler on Friday. Highs: 53-62.
