The Overview
Gusts at the Oregon coast peaked Thursday during the early evening hours; and in the Willamette Valley it was around the tail end of the evening commute and in the early evening hours.
Overnight Thursday into Friday morning: breezy and wet at times, plus, becoming noticeably colder. This is cold air coming in behind the storm system and it’s going to drop mountain snow levels from 7,000 feet at dinnertime to 3,500 feet by breakfast tomorrow. Ski resorts should see 2-3 feet of snow by Saturday night—and it’s snowing much of the time on our mountain passes.
Between now and then, rain at times west of the mountains and generally breezy on Friday.
The Friday details now:
Coast: Showers, breezy SW winds 15-30mph, possible t-storm. Highs: 50-55.
I-5 Corridor/Willamette Valley: Showers, breezy, possible t-storm. Highs: 50-54.
Gorge: Showers with west winds 15-25 most areas. Possible t-storm. Highs: 47-55.
Cascades: Up to 10” of snow by Friday morning, with another 8 to 12” by Friday night. More on Saturday. Highs: 30-37.
Central/Eastern Oregon: Breezy with a wind advisory for the Blue mountains until mid-morning Friday. Much cooler and scattered rain showers at lower elevations. Highs: 47-53.
