A clean, clear, refreshing pool is the reward of using sanitizing chemicals. Sanitizing is the act of adding chemicals, like chlorine, bromine, and others natural compounds, to your pool water. These chemicals disolve in water forming hypochlorous acid or free chlorine. This free clorine is able to penatrate the cell walls of micro-organisms eliminating them from the water. The natural products act as a catalyst to remove the micro-organisms. Algae, bacteria and viruses all thrive in water, and if left untreated can change the color of the water. These mirco-organisms are also capable of changing the chemical balance of your pool causing eye and skin irratation. You should test the chemical levels in your pool regularly to maintain the appropriate sanitizing chemical balance. Pool centers can show you how to properly use and read the chemical test kit. These readings will determine the amount of sanitizing chemicals you will need to add to maintain a clean and clear pool. Swimming pools provide a relaxing retreat from the heat of summer, make sure yours is properly sanitized. Hypochlorous - (hypo-chlor-ous)
