BEAVERTON, Ore. - Rescue crews rushed to the intersection Scholls Ferry Road and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The accident occurred shortly before four p.m. Monday. Initial reports indicate that the pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, was badly injured. Southbound traffic on Scholls Ferry Road was blocked while fire, rescue, police and highway crews processed the scene. The lanes were re-opened at about six p.m.
The five-corner intersection is typically one of the busiest in the area. Witnesses say the car that hit the woman was a Jaguar.
During the past three days, five pedestrians have been hit by cars in the greater Portland area.
Saturday, an Aurora, Ore. man was seriously injured when he was run over by a truck on Highway 99E north of Aurora. Sunday afternoon, a man was hit while running across Highway 217. Sunday night, 23-year-old Lindsay Leonard was killed as she walked across Southeast Foster Road in Southeast Portland. A 29-year-old woman who was walking with her was critically injured.
