Brother in accidental Beaverton shooting dies from his injuries

One of two brothers involved in an accidental shooting Monday evening in Beaverton died from his injuries Wednesday morning at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Beaverton police reports.

Phillip Wilson, 31, was reportedly involved in a dispute at a home in the 3000 block of SW 117th Ave, with his 36-year-old brother Preston, when Darrell Laffoon, 60, tried to break up the fight. During the struggle, Laffoon's gun discharged, injuring Preston and initially critically wounding Phillip, who later died.

Laffoon was arrested Tuesday and originally faced first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon charges. Since Phillip's death, authorities added manslaughter to the list.

Police said the gun was registered to Laffoon, who also holds a concealed weapons permit.

Anyone besides me recognize that if the gunman had not intervened the fight itself might not have resulted in a death and injury to that poor man's finger?

How many more unnecessary deaths must be counted before we as a society wake-up and join the civilized nations of Mother Earth such as Cun=ba, the PRC, and Syria, where all unconsionable firearms are banned? Although illegal organizations such as the NRA and their fascist lobbiests(all cheeered on by the legions of the Bush/Cheney/Raygun/Buzz Aldrin junta) continue to plauge the enlightened citizens hiding behind the anocrnositic 2nd Amendment- the time has come for Co-Presidents Shelly and Barry Helix Soetoro to take the bold action of issuing Executive Orders canceling this cruel amedment ( which flies in the face of the U.N. Charter ) once and for all.

IF you have a concealed weapons permit that is not a right to play Police Officer. Most people have a cell phone use it not the gun. What a dummy. You should only use your concealed weapons permit when you have no other means. That is when you are backed in to a corner and YOUR LIFE IS IN DANGER that you can not escape from. Not when the people are fighting. Call the Police let them handle it.
