Dozens of vehicle owners in Lake Oswego and Southwest Portland woke up Friday morning to shot-out vehicle windows after an extensive vandalism spree.
In Lake Oswego alone, police estimated $20,000 in damage was done by culprits going car to car, blasting out windows.
Portland police think 40-60 vehicles saw damage while the figure in Lake Oswego is about 50.
The vehicles in Lake Oswego were parked in three neighboring apartment complexes off of Jefferson Parkway and all were damaged between 11 p.m. last night and 1 a.m. Friday, according to police.
"It was like a drive by," said Dave Diehm, a maintenance employee at Gables Apartment. "They were just driving the loop hitting cars, I believe with a BB gun."
They used either a BB or a pellet gun, according to police.
About four miles away, the Portland neighborhood near the intersection of Southwest 6th Avenue and Terwilliger Boulevard was victimized with most of the damage. Another area near Southwest 45th and Vermont Street was hit, too.
Portland police did not confirm if the damage in their jurisdiction was also done by BB or pellet guns.
Later Friday, Portland police announced a $1,000 award from Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest in the case. Tips can be submitted via
