Local financial planners are teaming up with the City of Portland to offer Portland residents a chance to speak one-on-one with financial planners, at no cost.

Organizers with the Financial Planning Association of Oregon and Southwest Washington said Portland Financial Planning Day is an opportunity to learn more about things like debt management, budgeting, retirement planning and paying for college. The event will also include classroom style workshops.

Portland Financial Planning Day will be October 22, 2011 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Portland Building at 1120 SW Fifth Avenue in Portland.

Area financial planners also donate their time to help empower domestic violence survivors through a Bradley Angle financial education class called, "Making Cent$."
