Holmes starred in over 40 adult films in the 1970s and 80s, but died in 1988 due to complications from AIDS. He and Schiller went on the run after the
1981 Wonderland murders, which is believed to have been masterminded by drug dealer and businessman, Eddie Nash.
Holmes, whose fingerprints were at the scene of the crime, was charged with the murder of the four people who were killed at the Laurel Canyon home. Holmes was acquitted in June of 1982, but spent 110 days in jail for contempt of court.
Schiller is the author of "
The Road Through Wonderland: Surviving John Holmes."
