A semi-truck carrying cars pulled out into a Hillsboro MAX Monday afternoon, hurting the truck driver and seven passengers on board the train, according to the Hillsboro Fire Department.

The accident at Southeast 10th and Washington happened at about 12:20 p.m., closing the signal-controlled intersection, said Hillsboro Fire Spokesman Storm Smith.

None of the injuries were life threatening, said Smith, and seven of the injured were transported to an area hospital.

There was visible damage to the southbound car carrier and the front of the Blue Line MAX train.

Traffic in the area was diverted at both Southeast Baseline Street and East Main Street.

The eastbound train was pulled from the scene by about 1 p.m. but Blue Line service was disrupted, according to TriMet.

No citations have been issued, said TriMet.

He who has the most metal wins... Max has more metal than truck. Max wins... Very simple rule, easy to remember...

Probably 50% of all semi drivers are the worst drivers in the world! Hopped up on drugs and driving a 50 ton oversized vehicle. I drive I84 east alot, the aholes will pull out right in front of you, cutting you off, and when you pull up alongside them they are on the phone!!!! By bet it's the semi drivers fault!!

Match ends in a draw. Glad to see it ends with nobody seriously hurt.

Light rail, not a train. I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt though, this could have ended very differently.
