SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Salem man facing various charges after explosives were found at his home has been denied any reduction in his $2 million bail.
Patrick Eugene Hibler has pleaded not guilty to charges related to an explosion at his Salem home June 17 that partially severed his left hand.
The 42-year-old Hibler was arrested Oct. 7. On Friday, his attorney asked a Marion County judge to reduce bail to allow Hibler to be released to his family.
But the judge said Hibler remained a public safety concern because of the large amount of explosives found at the home and kept his bail at $2 million.
Prosecutors said investigators found an extremely volatile explosive known as TATP, or triacetone triperoxide. The next hearing for Hibler was set for Nov. 2.
